Remmy-chii is a private Discord bot run by Rem. This page explains what it looks at, what it keeps, and how to ask for your data to be removed.

01What it reads

In the servers it's in, the bot reads new messages in the channels it can see. Most of them are checked and forgotten right away. It reads them to:

  • Catch spam and scams. It checks the text, the links and any images for signs of a hacked account.
  • Spot the same message in several channels. It remembers your last few messages for 30 seconds, only in memory, then lets them go.
  • Answer commands like !vctime and !vendor.
  • Follow the mods' moderation bot. It reads the commands mods type to ban someone or leave a note, so the reason gets saved with the case.

It also sees who joins and leaves voice channels, and server bans, so it can keep the records below.

02What it saves

Moderation notes
When the spam guard holds someone, or a mod bans, kicks or leaves a note: your user ID, the reason, the time and the mod's name. Mods see these with /notes. The written reason is removed after 30 days.
Held messages
A copy of the flagged message (and its first image) is posted in that server's private mod channel. It stays on Discord, not on Rem's computer.
Scam image prints
When a mod confirms a scam ban, a short code made from the image (a 64-bit hash, not the image) is kept so the same picture is caught next time. Only the newest 500 are kept.
Voice time
Your user ID and how many seconds you spent in voice each day, per server. Anyone in the server can see the top 10 with !vctime.
Shop reports
Who reported the day's shop stock (user ID and name). Only today's and yesterday's reports are kept. The screenshot is posted on Discord.

Normal messages are not saved. Nothing is kept about what you play, your online status or your profile.

03What it never does

  • It never listens to or records voice. It joins voice deafened.
  • It never sells or shares your data with anyone.
  • It never uses your messages to train AI or machine learning models.
  • It never opens the links people post. Images are only fetched from Discord itself.
  • It never bans anyone on its own. A human mod always decides.

04Where it's kept

The saved data lives in small files on the computer that runs the bot, which only Rem can access. The files with member data are encrypted (AES-256). There is no outside database or cloud service. Anything the bot posts on Discord follows Discord's Privacy Policy.

Written moderation reasons are kept for 30 days. After that, a note only keeps its type, date and which mod made it. Voice time is kept for 35 days so weekly totals work. If the bot leaves a server, that server's data can be deleted on request.

05Your choices

  • Ask for your data. Email Rem and you'll get what's saved about you, or have it deleted. Moderation notes tied to a recent ban may be kept while that server's mods still need them. You can ask the mods about those.
  • Server admins can keep the bot out of any channel with Discord's channel permissions, or remove it from the server.
  • The spam guard can't be turned off for one person, or a hacked account could just turn it off.

06This website

This site has no accounts, cookies, ads or tracking. It saves your day or night theme in your own browser. It's hosted on Cloudflare Pages and loads fonts from Google Fonts, so those services see the usual request info, like your IP address.

07Changes

If the bot starts reading or saving anything new, this page is updated first and the date at the top changes.
